Theo Sterling Skin Clarifying And Probiotic Balancing Mist

This mist contains a probiotic blend full of proteins & enzymes that are supposed to target the bad bacteria while promoting the good bacteria on your skin. The main application of this mist is to balance the skin microbiome and fight acne which is not mentioned on the website because such claims put a treatment in a drug category & they have to get the FDAโ€™s approval for that! This mist only contains 3 ingredients:

  • Purified Water
  • Epsom Salt: soothes eczema
  • Proprietary Probiotic Blend

The probiotic blend used in this mist is obtained from the gram positive bacteria Cutibacterium; formerly known as p.acne bacteria which is responsible for acne! After fermentation of this bacteria under specific conditions they break down the cell membrane & extract a fluid called lysate. The lysate obtained from Cutibacterium bacteria contains valuable proteins, enzymes, cytoplasm & cell wall fragments; they concentrate these substances & put them in the mist. The company hasnโ€™t published any data about the strains in this product because they have no โ€œpatent protectionโ€ for this specific strain yet. Learn more about Probiotics here.

I used this mist every night for a month, after cleansing & before my vitamin C serum. It is recommended that not to use any harsh or antibacterial skin treatments, like benzoyl peroxide or colloidal silver with this mist & If you want to use AHA/BHAs, retinoids & acids use it at a different time of day to avoid inactivating the probiotics. Since I do not have active acne right now I can not tell how this spray is going to affect severe breakouts. However, It was helpful to prevent a few pimples that I get around my jaw line a week before my period & the times I pluck the peach fuzz & sideburn off my face!

In summary, this mist is using a new blend of probiotics to balance the skin microbiome by reenforcing the good bacteria & fighting the bad bacteria. I did see some positive results, the mist could possibly help with treating acne; however Iโ€™m not going to rate this product now, Iโ€™ll be waiting to read the publications.
